Georgia-Pacific is recruiting a Director of Operations to lead our corrugated converting operations in Dubuque, IA. The Director of Operations will lead the facility in environmental and safety standards and create a culture of safety, compliance as well as Principled Entrepreneurship®. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to contribute at the highest level are a must.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Advance our company culture, Market Based Management


  • Identify and align operational priorities with commercial business vision - ensure production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans and profit objectives

  • Overall responsibility for total facility performance and metrics - lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices, methods and procedures that add value for the facility

  • Creating and maintaining a cohesive team of leaders and providing coaching and development; accomplish objectives through leading others

  • Creating and maintaining a positive work environment for all employees. Spending time on the floor engaging with employees and overseeing plant operations as appropriate.


  • Influencing, interfacing and gaining credibility across a wide range of levels:

    • Executive (GP management team, senior leadership, external customers)


    • Direct reports, Supervisors and front-line employees

    • Commercial/sales employees



  • Identifying and implementing systems and equipment upgrades and improvements to drive long term value creation

  • Understanding and being able to interpret and analyze financial and operating statements

What You Will Need:



Basic Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 5 or more years of manufacturing operations leadership

  • Experience leading and facilitating operational and cultural changes with results; along with a track record at building a cohesive team and creating a positive work environment

  • Prior experience leading, coaching and developing a team and delivering performance metrics through others



 

What Will Put You Ahead?



Preferred Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Experience within a corrugated packaging, folding carton, litholam, printing or POP display facility

  • Continuous improvement experience and/or education

  • Knowledge of: equipment servicing, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, quality and corrugator/converting processes and equipment
