JOB SUMMARY The Quality Assurance Engineer will support the operations group to apply quality assurance and metrology tools to the development of new products and processes, the improvement of existing product and process performance and the resolution of quality issues. Revise or develop calibration procedures, calculate measurement uncertainties, review calibration certificate outputs, and oversee the integrity of TSI calibration system. This role will work with design and development group, operations group and others relevant functions in providing TSI with accurate and traceable measurements and ensuring the quality of measurements taken throughout the organization.
Use design assurance tools to assist with risk management activities in new product development.
Facilitate DFMEA & PFMEA reviews.
Assist in the development and implementation of new calibration processes and products.
Recommend changes to existing calibration products or processes when needed.
Provide guidelines for test method development.
Maintain traceability and develops measurement uncertainty analysis where applicable.
Support ISO 17025 certification and accreditation requirements.
Maintain expertise with respect to the methods and equipment in metrology technical area and industry standard practices.
Utilize knowledge of national and international procedures and means to maintain traceability conformance.
Assist with test equipment and process problems relating to measurement techniques, instrument operation, or instrument deficiency.
Assist in defining training requirements for new calibration processes.
Metrology planning for new product development/qualification.
Data collection and analysis for product validation.
Perform data analysis for quality improvement.
Must work well with others. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Completes other assignments as requested.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science is required.
Minimum of 3 years of Metrology engineering or Quality Assurance Engineering experience required. ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is desired.
Fundamental understanding of statistics theory, and practical experience in its application.
Knowledge of design and development risk management.
Demonstrated experience in trouble shooting problems.
Knowledge of ISO 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories.
Demonstrated experience developing defensible measurement uncertainty budgets, determining Test Uncertainty Ratios (TURs), and applying guard banding.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers to resolve technical issues.
Experience developing calibration or measurement techniques for new or one-of-a-kind instruments, equipment, or measurement systems.
Ability to set up, conduct, and report results of proficiency tests and inter-laboratory comparisons.
Strong oral and written skills to provide excellent customer service
