The Part-Time Editorial/Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director in managing the daily operation of the China Center and its programs.
This position will be responsible for providing editorial assistance to the Journal of Contemporary China, preparing and coordinating Jackson/Ho China Forums, Annual International Symposium, and other China Center sponsored events. Also, the position will assist the director in office management, including editing and distributing China Centers Newsletter and brochures, maintaining China Centers website, and assisting China Centers visiting scholars, and supervise work-study and other volunteer staff and coordinate projects with Josef Korbel support staff.
This position will work 25 hours per week.
Coordinate China Center Events
Coordinate logistics to organize Jackson/Ho China Forums, the Annual International Symposium and any other China Center sponsored events, including reserving sites, working with vendors and volunteers and operations during the events
Arrange transportation and make hotel reservations for guest speakers
Create promotional publications and advertising materials for all events and email notifications announcing upcoming meetings
Assist the Executive Director with the process and publication of the Journal of Contemporary China to guarantee on-time publication of pending issues via email correspondence
Write, edit and distribute the bi-annual newsletter to the China Centers community
Maintain and update the website and disseminate current information about the China Center via the website, newsletters, brochures, and e-mail Oversee Visting Scholar Program
Process paperwork for visas, University of Denver identification cards and library usage, plus establishing access to other resources for their research while in Denver
Provides a successful experience for the visiting scholars while promoting collaboration between the United States and China
Assist the editor in Daily Office Routine
Maintains an efficient office environment through proficient performance and oversight of basic office administration and office equipment maintenance
Supervise, train and schedule work-study students

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of study and experience
Experience with event planning
Experience with journal copy editing
Experience with web design and database management
Experience working with international students
