Job Summary Statement:
Under the direction of the Interim Director of the Department of Instructional Design and Learning Support, the Senior Instructional Designer - (SID) will provide instructional design expertise for the development and support of in-person, remote instruction, as well as online and hybrid courses. This position will work closely with UCLA Extension academic unit continuing educators, program representatives, and instructors to develop courses for delivery. This will include support in pedagogy, use of Canvas and integrated tools, assessment of learning outcomes, development of learning resources, active learning strategies, as well as best practices for teaching in specific formats.
Together with the Continuing Educator, the SID will have responsibility for ensuring that courses meet the rigor and quality standards established by UCLA Extension and that course design is accessible and inclusive.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
A graduate degree in instructional design, instructional technology, distance learning, adult education, or related field.
Three to five years' experience in instructional design, educational/instructional technology, distance learning, or related field, preferably in higher education.
Strong understanding of in-person, remote instruction, online and blended pedagogy as well as trends in instructional design.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that include an inclusive orientation.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within a complex organization.
Demonstrated instructional design skills and experience including in-person, remote instruction, online and hybrid format course creation.
Ability to manage multiple projects, collaborating with various stakeholders and delivering high-quality product on time.
Experience and familiarity with ADA accessibility standards, including standards for the presentation of instructional materials when teaching in-person, remote instruction, online and hybrid formats.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Final Draft (or other scriptwriting tools), multimedia players, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Producer, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Freehand, Microsoft FrontPage.
Experience with web browsers for Mac and PC: Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome.
Experience with learning management systems and integrated tools, preferably Canvas, Zoom, Adobe Connect and other standard LMS tools.
Knowledge of intellectual property and copyright law for purposes of information architecture and design work, as well as content development, management, use, and potential reuse of instructional assets.
Interest in and ability to support universal access and inclusion as you work with a diverse international/multicultural population of stakeholders (including faculty/instructors, staff, and students) to reach geographically and internationally distributed learners.
