The AVANGRID RENEWABLES Senior Permitting Manager will report to the Western Regional Permitting Manager and Director of Permitting and Environmental Affairs. The Senior Permitting Manager will coordinate with company personnel in support of Development, Construction, Operations, asset management, and other disciplines for solar and wind energy projects across the US. The position will be focused on permitting and environmental compliance support for Development and construction projects and Operational assets. Develop environmental study and permitting strategies for specific wind and solar projects in consultation with Project Developers, technical staff, and Regional Permitting Manager. Manage and coordinate activities within the Company and with outside consultants to achieve all regulatory, siting and environmental requirements and approvals needed to achieve project and asset regulatory compliance, guidance and policy adherence, and Company objectives. Prepare milestone schedules, budgets and staffing requirements to complete permitting and compliance on assigned projects and assets. Prepare applications to agencies; represent Company's position in hearings and workshops; select and manage consultants; assist the project public relations strategy; and provide documentation for siting, land use, wetland, and wildlife permits; represent the Company in policy discussions and developments regarding renewables permitting. Negotiate with wildlife, land use, and other regulatory agencies to achieve acceptable permit conditions consistent with project and Company goals, schedules, costs, and environmental protection. Conduct environmental and permitting due diligence on potential sites and acquisition opportunities for wind and solar. Coordinate with Construction to assist in maintaining permit compliance of wind and solar projects. Coordinate with Procurement on RFP process and manage purchase orders and invoicing through SAP accounting system.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years experience in energy project permitting and environmental review (examples include county permits, state wind or solar permits, federal wind or solar permits). Demonstrated problem solving, negotiating and oral and written communication skills. Experience and knowledge of environmental permitting regulations for complex renewable energy projects. Experience cannot be limited to one type of permitting (e.g., wetlands). Domestic travel required (can range 20-50%). Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet deliverables. Managed NEPA, and/or other state and local land use and environmental permitting processes. Working knowledge of Windows-based business software applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Advanced degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business or comparable degree. Experience permitting projects in states with complex permitting requirement (e.g., New York, California, Oregon) Prior experience in wind and/or solar power permitting and environmental review.
