For nearly a century, the Psychology department has been a national and international leader in psychological research and the superior educational programs that we have provided to undergraduates and doctoral students. Today, award winning faculty conduct ground-breaking research in many areas of psychology, including behavioral and systems neuroscience, clinical science, cognition, cognitive neuroscience, development, social, and personality. Our PhD students go on to exciting careers in academia (e.g. Yale, Stanford, UCLA), industry (e.g., Facebook, Google), healthcare (e.g., Oakland Children s Hospital, Seattle VA) and policy (e.g., National Institute of Justice).
The Hinshaw research group has two primary research and clinical interests: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Stigmatization of Mental Illness. Professor Hinshaw has a longstanding research program investigating developmental mechanisms underlying ADHD and associated behavioral and emotional problems. His research program exemplifies several central tenets guiding the study of developmental psychopathology; namely (a) ascertaining continuities across, and discontinuities between, normal and atypical development; (b) examining the contribution of familial and peer relationships to normative and non-normative behavior; and (c) considering the interplay of psychobiological and psychosocial factors related to the causation and maintenance of disordered behavior patterns.
* Responsible for providing reports and analyses for varied and complex budgetary, financial and resource projects.
* Generate timely reporting on all Schwab Center activities for reports to UC Berkeley and UCSF Departments and to the Schwab Foundation.
* Work with Psychology Clinic, UCSF Health, and the Schwab Center to generate, recoup, and account for Schwab Center revenue, related to assessments and treatments performed at the Psychology Clinic as part of its linkage with the Schwab Center.
* Work with UCSF and UCB personnel to reconcile and process inter-campus gift-fund transfers and disbursement for the growing trainee and staff/faculty workforce of the Schwab Center.
* Prepare purchasing, recharge, travel, and training/conference materials for Schwab Center Activities.
* Reviews and approves financial data and transactions.
* Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
* Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
* Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
* Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
* Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
* Thorough knowledge or ability to quickly learn and understand internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
* Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.
* Familiarity with accounting and financial services procedures in higher education.
* Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
