Our diverse laboratories perform routine and specialty analytical testing for compliance, safety, certification and verification purposes.
The primary purpose of this position is to analyze samples using GC/FID methodologies and to prepare these samples for further analysis via GC/MS.
Assisting with the maintenance of instruments, pressurizing canisters and other laboratory tasks will also be required.
Under the direction of a Chemist/Sr. Chemist/Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will do the following tasks:
Prepare, analyze, and perform sample analysis
Ensure that proper analysis methods are conducted on the appropriate sample
Maintain quality control records and perform quality review of data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of results
Maintain laboratory instruments in working order and make any minor repairs that are necessary
Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities
Ensure proper analysis methods are conducted and standard operating procedures are correctly followed on the appropriate samples
Support quality department and continuous improvement process
Communicate procedural and operational difficulties and delays as required
Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to record and document all analytical activities during the processing of samples
Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
Perform other related duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Possess a general knowledge of organic chemistry fundamentals; ability to understand terminology and principals in order to comply with analytical methods
Possess strong computer skills with knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Word; experience with or ability to learn industry specific software such as our laboratory information management system in a timely manner
Multi-tasked, organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent problem solving capabilities; will have good time management capabilities and be able to work independently of supervision and work well with other analysts on the team
Ability to take ownership for meeting goals and objectives; willing to be accountable for own decisions, and willing to give 100%. Able to look for new ways to accomplish objectives
Proficient English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate well with staff, management and clients in a professional manner
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary to meet TAT
4 year degree in a scientific field (chemistry, biology, etc.)
Prior experience with instrumentation is strongly preferred
Good verbal communication skills
Ability to learn quickly and follow direction
Strong commitment to quality and integrity
Monday - Friday work schedule (weekends if scheduled)
