SENIOR FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

WEST COAST REGION

The Senior Field Service Engineer will be on-site at customer location on a daily basis or as needed to support as per the contractual support obligations. The incumbent is responsible for providing excellence in customer service

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE KEEN TO TRY SOMETHING NEW:

* Installation, preventative maintenance and general upkeep of the Carl Zeiss PCS process tools (XRM) located at customer sites.
* Troubleshooting all tool errors and making appropriate tool repairs.
* Complete all necessary forms and reports in support of department and company data collection efforts such as but not limited to, expense reports, service reports, quality reports, etc. in prescribed time frame as established by management.
* Management of part inventory including part ordering and part return.
* Liaise and schedule assigned service activities with the customer and ensure ZEISS Service Management, Customer Interaction Center, and when appropriate, the Sales Account Manager is kept aware as required.
* Communication to customers and internally of all progress on equipment status and other projects.
* Using established guidelines, train customers on routine to advanced system operation and maintenance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Must successfully complete all proscribed technical training to acquire an in depth knowledge of assigned company equipment
* Troubleshoot complex 3D X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) Imaging equipment.
* Ability to make technically complicated equipment repairs and maintenance.
* Ability to maintain and replace advanced x-ray systems. Perform optical or beam alignment of equipment is required.
* Maintain systems to achieve the contractually obligated equipment uptime performance.
* Report all tool actions/events and daily activities in field service reports.
* Communicate tool and site issues to 2nd level support and follow up to achieve resolution of customer s open issues.
* Under limited supervision and following established protocols, provide a full range of installation services and preventive and corrective maintenance, on the assigned set of systems under Carl Zeiss Process Control systems (XRM).
* Using established guidelines, train customers on routine to advanced system operation and maintenance.
* May be trained to conduct special site or system environmental analysis tests as assigned by management and has the ability to use this knowledge to diagnose system problems or qualify sites as acceptable.
* Assists other Field Service Engineers and customers to diagnose system problems via telephone, email as well as when on site.
* Participate in customer/ZEISS meetings.
* Maintain appropriate tool and customer site service KPI data including MTTR, MTBF, uptime, parts delivery, etc; maintain engineer spare parts trunk stock
* Due to the complex nature of the toolsets being worked on, extensive training (both on the job and at our Product Center in Pleasanton, CA) is required.
* Perform PM s within their scheduled time frame

YOU ARE:

* 4-year degree or technical certificate in technical/scientific discipline, related military electronics experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience such as 5+ years direct experience building, maintaining, installing, and/or repairing similarly complex automated electromechanical systems.
* Extensive technical experience working in a semiconductor clean room environment (FAB) and/or lab environment adhering to all specific customer protocols.
* Working with and around x-ray sources, laser systems and/or potentially hazardous chemistries.
* Experience working within semiconductor industry.
* Experience with FAB cleanroom protocol.
* Experience with semiconductor equipment is preferred.
* Experienced with Windows operating environments and word processing and or email applications as well as with databases or CRM Systems.
* Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot problems in software, electronics, optics and electron optics, high voltage, high vacuum, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
* Ability to read and understand electrical or mechanical engineering documentation and schematics.

Physical requirements: ability to lift 50lbs; ability to stand for long periods; ability to stoop, squat, kneel, twist and lay down in the course of equipment repair.

Position requires ability to travel including internationally. Initial training requirement is 3 months at factory location and extensive travel for job shadowing. Anticipate after initial training that travel is about 60%.

Ability to work long hours inside a semiconductor cleanroom (FAB). Requires following of all customer cleanroom protocols. Position requires occasional OT including weekends as required.

Position requires working with x-ray sources, laser systems and/or potentially hazardous chemistries.

Position requires ability and dexterity to perform very complex optical alignments and adjustments.

Position requires ability to perform technical trouble shooting on complex optical equipment. Experience troubleshooting very sophisticated HW and running system SW is required.
