Under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation & Government Investigations, the Senior Litigation Paralegal will coordinate the day-to-day operations of litigation, including patent litigation.
The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player, and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability are required. Must be able to work with limited day-to-day supervision and be able to make decisions independently when necessary.
Coordinating a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters (including patent, antitrust, product liability, and securities litigations) in conjunction with both internal and external counsel teams;
Coordinating responses to subpoenas, records requests, government investigations, and various other matters;
Assisting internal and outside counsel in collecting documents and preparing responses to discovery, subpoenas, and other governmental requests for information;
Supporting internal and external counsel in conducting internal investigations and pre-litigation investigations and
Coordinating with legal operations and eDiscovery teams on behalf of Litigation and Government Investigations Team.
The ideal candidate should have:
A Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10-12 years of experience working as a paralegal;
Ability to interact with executive level employees knowledgably and in a highly professional manner;
Strong PC and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) experience;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Complete fluency in various forms of litigation including an advanced understanding of patent, antitrust, product liability, and securities litigations;
Knowledge of the various legal venues and court rules for the courts in which BMS has pending litigation;
Knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as the New Jersey and New York Rules of Court;
Ability to work independently and help team members manage their priorities;
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated record of collaboration, being a team player and forming strong working relationships with clients;
The highest integrity, excellent judgment and the ability to proactively recognize and effectively communicate issues appropriately; and
Intellectual curiosity and a sense of humor.
