POSITION TITLE:

Maintenance Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HQP Electrician is the primary resource for all electrical needs within the Highland facility. They must be able to test, repair, and maintain all electrical systems within the facility. They may be required to repair large power outages or prevent them from occurring. They must ensure existing wiring and connections meet standards and are not at risk of being damaged. They will use various tools to test volts, ohms, and other instruments to test the safety and effectiveness of electrical components. This role may also be needed to inspect large electrical systems to ensure they meet state and local building codes. They will maintain motors, transformers, and other electrical controllers attached to large power systems. They must understand state and local building codes, and know OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, and other electrical regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Works hands-on in a plant environment on the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of a variety of building electrical equipment, Production machines and HVAC systems.

* Install electrical wiring and related equipment for all building and plant equipment per local and National Electric codes.

* Troubleshoot and locate electrical problems in machines, equipment, controls and electrical systems (including PLC s and VFD s). Fanuc, GE, Allen Bradley

* Design, construct maintain, and repair electrical power systems.

* Familiar with 4160, 480, 277/120 3 phase A/C - D/C controls SCR s

* Able to Troubleshoot, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Pumps

* Familiar with Diesel and Natural Gas Generators

* Fork Lifts, Electric & Propane

* Perform tests and calibrations using electrical and electronic test equipment.

* Able to design, build, and maintain control panels.

* Does fabrication and assembly work with hand tools, combined with machine tool work.

* Works from sketches, patterns, blueprints and conceptual ideas.

* Keeps accurate records.

* Works with limited or no supervision.

* Maintains supplies and inventories. Will be required to order materials when needed.

* Operates material handling equipment.

* Keeps work area clean and orderly.

* Trains and assists others.

* Follows safe work practices.

* Does other work as required

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

* Certified Electrician with minimum 5 years working experience as a skilled electrician in a variety of industrial applications to include high voltage applications.

* Experienced in industrial electrical systems and components, including AC/DC motor controls, PLC s, and VFD s.

* Worked on the assembly, repair, and fabrication of production/process equipment.

* Worked hands on in a plant environment on the troubleshooting and repair of a variety of process equipment applications.

* Willing to attend a technical training program based on individual skills.

* Qualified candidates will go through a skills assessment.

* Must be able and willing to be trained in plant emergency procedures and act as EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER / INCIDENT COMMANDER according to prescribed Company procedures.

* Must be willing and able to complete OSHA Incident Commander and First Responder training.

* Proven ability to work safely and demonstrate attention to detail.

* Must demonstrate good positive attitude in a team environment.

* Must demonstrate effective reading, writing and mathematical ability.

* Must have ability to use computer systems for report generation and communication.

* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (E-mail) and SAP.

* Must demonstrate effective communication and training skills.

* Must demonstrate ability to work without direction and take initiative to solve problems.

* Must be able and willing to be on-call during weekends, holidays, and other hours as needed.

* Test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility

* Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation

* Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices

* Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps

* Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisor

* Use ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems in residential homes, on roadside poles and in commercial properties

* Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort

* Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisor

REQUIRED TECHNICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

* Must have ability to use computer systems for report generation and communication.

* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (E-mail) and SAP.

* Must demonstrate effective communication and training skills

* Must demonstrate ability to work without direction and take initiative to solve problems

* Completed electrician apprenticeship

* Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes

* Valid driver s license and clean driving record

* Ability to read blueprints

* Must pass criminal background check and drug test

* Valid state license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Lift up to 50 lbs.

* Work in either indoor/outdoor environments with wide range of conditions

* Standing, kneeling, Bending, Stooping, Reaching overhead for extended amounts of time
