Job Description:


In conjunction with, as requested by, and under the supervision of a physician, performs telephonic/telemedicine assessments of TMs pertaining to potential exposures to COVID through travel, community and occupational exposures. Makes determination of exposure type as well as TM need for testing, quarantining, specialty referrals and returning to work.


TM Initial assessments: perform initial intakes on TMs that contact the COVID Call Center. Intakes may include using telephonic or telemedicine to provide remote clinical services. Intakes include documenting pedigree information, assessing occupational versus community exposure risk, arranging for testing, determining if exposure is work-related or not, documenting symptoms, notifying leader, designated others and TM of work status.

Follow up telephonic/telemedicine assessments: perform follow up assessments on TMs pending testing results, documenting self-reported symptoms, arranging for police well checks , DME, specialist/return to work OH appointments, determining work status based on set protocol. Makes appropriate referrals made to UCC & or ED.

Exposure Assessments: review lists provided by Infection Prevention/leader(s) and call TMs deemed exposed. Determine need for testing or quarantine based on exposure risk.

Determine whether infection with COVID is occupational or community acquired. Coordinate with TM PCP regarding care when exposure source is not clear or differential diagnosis suspected.

Documentation: document all TM interactions electronically or on designated forms, email TM, designated others and leader work status on daily basis

TM Travel Inquiries: Responds to TM travel inquiries for guidance, restrictions, HMH policies and regulatory rules or recommendations

Vendor Access Authorization: Reviews documentation, conducts telephonic assessment and determines access authorization for HMH vendors required to be on-site at an HMH facility

Performs related duties as required


Successful completion of an approved physician s assistant program accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education

Minimum of 3 years professional experience demonstrating sound clinical judgement

Strong organizational and computer skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Emotional intelligence, critical thinking and effective interpersonal skills

Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Able to work well under the supervision of a physician and as a member of a team

Current, unencumbered license to practice in NJ

On-site at the HMH Covid Call Center, in a business office environment, adhering to all HMH policies in the areas of safety for physical distancing, masking, hand washing, etc. The implementation of technology may facilitate a remote work environment for this position. The HMH Covid Call Center is operational daily, seven days a week. This position will be included in the weekend rotation schedule.
