The University of Connecticut Center for Clean Energy Engineering is seeking a Financial Assistant 2. The Financial Assistant's primary responsibility is to support financial and administrative functions of the Center, taking lead of certain functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The individual responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain and monitor financial records and accounts
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for the center as required
Assist in developing and managing center's operating budgets and tracking spending to the approved budget
Manage grant accounts and provide reports on the financial state of the grant
Prepare reports as appropriate to meet University, State and sponsor requirements.
Prepare billing for accounts receivable and monitor collection of monies due.
Record encumbrances and expenditures and process all necessary paperwork, following up to resolve problems as they arise.
Assist with pre- and post- award activities by preparing documents as required to meet deadlines
Prepare payroll to meet the needs of the Center and University deadlines
Assist with travel arrangements, purchasing, visas, etc. in support of the Center and its members as well as other ad-hoc administrative activities as required
Perform related duties as required in support of center operations, faculty, students, and staff
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in related field
At least two years of financial record keeping
Knowledge of budget preparation and payroll systems
Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
Proficient with Excel
Excellent organizational and time management skills, including working independently and with a team
Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a higher education or a grant funded organization or program
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Salary will be commensurate with successful candidate's background and experience. Screening of applications will begin immediately.
