Compliance & Reporting
Preparation of all federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for all North American legal entities. This requires completion of detailed tax workpapers and review of the current year forms for any changes that may be required to the workpapers. The preparation of the workpapers includes calculations of current year book-tax differences, reviewed and adjusted detail trial balances and other various schedules used in the completion of each legal entity’s tax returns. Competent knowledge of FAS109 and current federal and state income tax laws is necessary to calculate the correct adjustments to book income for accurate return preparation.
Preparation of various state and local annual reports for all North American legal entities. All US legal entities are required to file an annual return of stock and/or corporate officers with the state(s) they are incorporated in and qualified to do business in.
Preparation of international forms 5471, 5472 and 1120F as required for the consolidated federal return and reporting of other entities as required
Preparation of federal, state and local estimated income/franchise tax payments and extension payments for all legal entities as required by the individual federal, state and local taxing authorities.
Assist Tax Director with preparation of quarterly, half-year and annual provisions. Detail calculations are prepared as required by the UK Group Tax Director to update all North American cash tax payments, current taxes payable and deferred tax balances.
Assist Tax Director with monthly, quarterly, half-year and annual NICS entries for Tax. Entries are those required by the UK Group Tax Director to update the Group reporting packages for all North American legal entities and reporting units.
Preparation of quarterly tax account reconciliations for all current and deferred income and franchise tax accounts for all North American legal entities including maintenance of all current year cash tax payments for all legal entities. The reconciliations include reconciling to NICS reporting and preparation of journal entries required to adjust the accounts to the correct balances at intervals determined by the Tax Director or the UK Group Tax Director.
Preparation of quarterly and annual Canadian income tax provision and journal entries. This requires calculations of the current and deferred tax amounts, the journal entries required to update the general ledger accounts and the calculation of the required cash payments to be made by the Canadian legal entity.
Assist Tax Director with annual preparation of monthly recurring tax entries. The calculation of the recurring entries is typically prepared following the year-end provision and is required for various income and franchise tax accounts for all North American legal entities.
Responsible for initial handling of all federal, state and local income/franchise tax notices. Various notices are received related to estimated payments, returns filed, extensions, account closings, requests for additional information and other issues pertaining to income and franchise taxes for all North American legal entities. All final resolve of the notices is approved by the Tax Director.
Responsibility for federal, state and local income and franchise tax audits. This requires the initial gathering and organization of information requested by the auditor as determined by the Tax Director. This generally involves coordination with Accounting to obtain the detail required by the auditor.
Research various income and franchise tax issues as determined by the Tax Director or necessary to complete any of the other responsibilities of the position. This includes regular monitoring of federal and state income/franchise tax laws and changes.
All tax returns are prepared using Corptax and Corptax Office. This position is required to maintain and update the software as necessary. Maintenance is to be completed on all accounts and adjustments to coincide with general ledger account changes as needed for provisional and return reporting. Updates for specific issues and changes to the software are to be monitored for applicability to Pilkington reporting.
Assist company personnel with issues related to federal, state and local income/franchise taxes as they arise.
Supervision of other personnel assisting with completion of income and franchise reporting tasks. This will include making sure that all procedures are complete and up to date.
BBA in accounting or similar degree.
Corporate income tax reporting experience, 4 to 7 years.
Accounting experience, preferably tax-related, 2 to 4 years.
Good working knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Good working knowledge of and experience using Corptax software.
Good organizational and documentation skills.
Position requires prioritizing tasks and ability to meet internal and external deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Travel up to 10%, may include international travel
Masters in Taxation.
Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
Prior accounting and/or tax experience in a manufacturing environment.
Prior experience in corporate income tax audits.
4 - 7 years: Corporate income tax reporting
Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
