We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented clinician at the nurse-practitioner level or equivalent who has experience navigating medical literature, interpreting clinical research, and implementing evidence-based medicine in patient care. The successful applicant will author and review a variety of documents aimed at educating patients and informing clinicians of best medical practices. This candidate will be a critical part of a team of clinicians developing a clinical governance infrastructure for Optum Care nationally. In that capacity, she/he will work with clinical leaders across our national and local teams and improve our ability to deliver evidence-based care consistently across our network.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct medical literature searches to find or confirm best practices for a given medical topic
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of care algorithms
  • Distill complex medical topics and summarize lengthy medical guidelines into high-quality, patient-friendly educational materials
  • Review and edit clinical documents against source materials, ensuring that the content is high-quality, accurate, timely, and easily understood
  • Assist with document review meetings to address content changes and resolve content errors
  • Manage references and source library
  • Demonstrate clear and concise writing style

Required Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience with direct patient care, preferably from an academic environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license
  • Working knowledge of medical literature search engines (PubMed, MEDLINE, Google Scholar)
  • Previous clinical research experience a plus
  • Up to 25% travel for clinical and stakeholder meetings
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders
