Under general supervision, the Associate Social Worker in the UCSD Eating Disorder Center will provide clinical support services in aspects of the treatment program, by assisting primary therapists with therapy sessions to patients in the Pediatric Program. The incumbent will provide weekly individual therapy sessions and daily group therapy sessions; manage the patient milieu, and coordinate care with other team members and outside treatment providers under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Other duties include: administering assessments to patients, attending weekly trainings and workshops, reporting on patient s progress in weekly treatment team meetings, and providing work direction to nurses and other support staff in the Eating Disorder Program.
Bachelor's degree in social work from a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education, and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
One year of experience in case management with clients with mental disorders.
Ability to serve as broker to assist patient in obtaining financial aid, housing, health and vocational services.
Demonstrated ability to form a constructive alliance with patients with mental or eating disorders.
Proven ability to write coherent reports in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to conduct psychosocial assessments with patients with mental/eating disorders.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other mental health/recovery professionals.
Proven ability to provide screening and triage services for patients with mental/eating disorders.
Proven ability and experience in utilizing Electronic Health Record, email for communication with other professionals, knowledge of internet to access resources as needed for client care and excel spreadsheet.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
Understanding of psychiatric terminology, diagnoses and psychiatric medication.
