Job Description
The Equipment Operator operates heavy construction equipment onsite for an earthwork construction project. Construction equipment may include: trucks, front-end and track loaders, backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, and skid steers. Move and stabilize materials in a safe and efficient manner. Qualified equipment operator candidates local to the gulf coast region highly preferred.
Essential Job Functions
Daily maintenance check of fluids, lubricants, wear parts, tires, glass and general condition of assigned machinery and report issues immediately.
Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, material handling, backfilling, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Participates in general labor duties related to construction work.
Performs other related work as necessary
Qualifications
2+ years of relevant experience strongly preferred
High School diploma or equivalent required
High level of skill and ability to operate heavy construction equipment safely preferred
Must be able to understand and demonstrate the limitations of heavy equipment, properly interpret load charts for associated heavy equipment and manufacturer approved attachments for the construction equipment
Must be willing and able work in an outdoor construction work environment with potential exposure to dust, noise, waste, and at time inclement weather conditions
Ability to work more than 50 hours per week
Operator positions are often considered "travelers", travel required for long term career opportunities to project sites with rotations back home as needed.

Able to perform standard lifting operations
Able to operate equipment for long periods of time
