Job Description:

The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill a Utility Locator position in our Support Services Department. The Utility Locator performs utility locating for water, steam, and electric facilities and are also responsible for setting up traffic control, performing traffic control duties, including flagging.

This position requires the following knowledge of:




    • Utility construction drawings and layout

    • OUNC damage prevention regulations and best practices

    • Oregon Administrative Rules and Revised Statutes pertaining to the Oregon Utility Notification Center.

    • Computer software required to perform the tasks of this position (NTMS, GIS, etc.)



The starting salary for this position is commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.  The wage scale for the Utility Locator is $26.07 to $28.97 per hour.

This position is subject to the terms, conditions and benefits of EWEB's collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 659.

Minimum Training and Experience Required

Minimum Experience: Six months of experience in locating utilities, working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid driver license: Yes.

Professional license or registration:  Obtain Traffic Control Flagger Certification within 30 days of hire.

Post-offer background check required: Yes

Post-offer drug test required: Yes

Post-offer physical / functional test required: Yes

Apprenticeship or other education/training required as a condition of employment, progression or advancement:  Obtain a First Aid/CPR card within 12 months of hire.
