Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Vice President to join Ashland Credit Union in Ashland, Kentucky. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the credit union function. This position will report to the Executive Vice President.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • As a member of the senior management team, this position directs and manages finance, accounting, and recordkeeping activities to ensure strict compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAPP), as well as all state and Federal laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Oversee and manage all financial and accounting functions which includes:  ALM, accounts payable, general ledger, financial analysis, financial modeling, financial reporting and recordkeeping, investments, risk assessments, vendor management, insurance, and taxes.

  • Manage the investment of excess funds to optimize rate of return in compliance with the Board approved investment guidelines. Choose investments consistent with prevailing economic conditions, ACU’s asset/liability mix and ACU’s goals of safety, liquidity, and yield. Act as contact point for all authorized investment brokers and screen prospective brokers.

  • Ensure timely reports are created for the ALM Committee which reflects ACU’s current risks and financial position in shocked rate environments.

  • Monitor liquidity and cash needs. Direct the cash management of excess funds among ACU’s correspondent bank accounts.

  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agency examiners and external auditors.  Ensure compliance with internal controls.

  • Oversee the development of the annual budget and periodic analysis of budget variances. Monitor cost control activities and implement cost control strategies as needed.

  • Identify and measure potential risks of the Financial Department including the development of risk assessments and appropriate procedures to minimize loss exposure.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5 - 10 years prior financial institution experience

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence with a proven ability to motivate staff and drive team excellence

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills

  • Mathematical and statistical aptitude with excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
