Cherokee Federal is looking for a Production Engineering Manager for its businesses in the Engineering & Manufacturing sector. This exciting opportunity will leverage the candidate's leadership ability and experience in engineering.

SUMMARY

The Production Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all manufacturing engineering, process development, installation, maintenance and improvement of production lines to meet KPI's.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:


  • Oversees the production engineering team regarding projects, task and operations.
  • Manages the planning and designing of the methods to improve or enhance existing programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times and process improvement through lean techniques and value engineering to increase efficiency.
  • Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specifications requirements.
  • Analyze and review budgets, schedules, production requirements and headcount to determine the most cost effective methods of obtaining necessary resources.
  • Prepares engineering documents including cost estimates, appropriation requests, project schedules, design specifications, inspection procedures, instruction specifications, labels, purchase requisitions, operating manuals and technical reports.
  • Support all safety rules, procedures and standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

Supervises/Manages a department and have authority over hiring/firing/performance decisions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years of experience in production/industrial engineering and 2 years supervisory/management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
  • Ability to effectively lead and direct others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, manufacturing, production standards and efficiency optimization tools; process oriented.
  • Knowledge of various software applications: database, design, inventory, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projects.
  • Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines, have a defined sense of urgency as required.
  • Interpersonal skills; telephone skills; patience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed in a warehouse environment involving moderate exposure to unusual elements as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes and loud noises.
