Job Description:

Responsibilities

As the Refund Unit Supervisor, you will handle a variety of vital responsibilities, including:

* Overseeing day-to-day operations of assigned staff

* Setting up and assigning worklist files

* Supervising contact with third party payers and unit supervisors regarding refund resolution including credit balance

* Assigning special projects regarding compliance audits as they relate to payment issues, as well as all cash posting and cash undistributed functions

* Evaluate the Refund Unit account activity; escalate issues to appropriate Manager, Contracting Office, or Department Supervisors for prompt resolution

* Serve as the first point of contact for Refund representatives and the liaison with other Physician Support Services staff regarding operational processes and issues related to refunds

* Perform account review and provide feedback to staff to improve performance and Quality Assurance

Qualifications

We re seeking a self-directed, detail-oriented professional with:

* Minimum of three years of supervisor experience

* Minimum of five years of healthcare professional billing experience

* Leadership and training experience

* Detailed knowledge of Cash Posting functions including Credit, Refunds and Cash Undistributed

* Detailed knowledge of Medicare and Medicare HMO patient billing regulations to include covered and non-covered procedures, patient responsibilities, and appeal processes

* Skilled in reading and comprehending medical billing policies and procedures appearing in billing manuals written in standard English

* Ability to work with third party vendors

* Ability to utilize the EPIC and hospital check request system

* Detailed knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology, ICD-10 codes, modifies and HCPCS

* Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct letters, memos and reports

* Overseeing and processing of basic accounting transactions (i.e. debiting and crediting) to reconcile patient accounts

* Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, patients, patients families and payers
