Reports to the Director, Plant Operations to perform a variety of duties to maintain the facility in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition according to outlined procedures.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years of related experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrates the ability to read, write and spell non-medical terms; also must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions (for example, reading chemical labels and following safety requirements identified for specific chemical).
Demonstrates the basic math skills necessary to add, subtract, multiply and divide (for example, preparing cleaning solutions using the proper mixtures).
Demonstrates the communication and interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, families, visitors and team members in a courteous manner and to maintain positive working relationships.
Requires the ability to work independently, take initiative and self motivation.
Attention to detail, working knowledge of various cleaning agents and their appropriate uses. Prioritizing elements of the job.
Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with all applicable federal and state laws as well as regulations and hospital policies that apply to assigned duties.
Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct. Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.
Attendance at monthly Environmental Services meetings is mandatory. Attendance at one in-service/orientation session each year to review hospital policies and procedures is mandatory.
Working Conditions
Works in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, frequent changes in job demands, certain undesirable patient care activities and possible exposure to chemical hazards or bio-hazards. Hospital complies with OSHA regulations regarding blood borne pathogens and will provide to staff the appropriate protective equipment.
Physical Demands
Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. the ability to do manual labor, twist and turn, climb a ladder, remain on feet and/or walk for long periods of time, push and pull carts for prolonged periods of time, lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
