Job Description:

The Association of American Railroads (AAR), the world's leading railroad policy, research, standard setting and technology organization that focuses on the safety and productivity of the U.S. freight rail industry, seeks a hands-on Data Analyst with expert Power BI skills.
The AAR's Policy & Economics Department is responsible for conducting economic, financial, statistical, and cost studies dealing with various aspects of the rail industry. The right candidate will be responsible for driving defined Power BI dashboard, data visualization reports, and defining data models. Additional duties include analysis of data related to railroads and their economic and regulatory environment and development of policy positions on current rail issues.
Individual must be a self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical.
Core Functions

Drive defined Power BI dashboards, data visualization reports, and data models.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, develop powerful data visualization/dashboards, and support Power BI dashboard training as needed.
Consolidate large volumes of data into succinct and meaningful visualizations.
Apply statistical analysis techniques to examine structured and unstructured data from multiple disparate sources.
Use advanced mathematical, statistical, querying, and reporting methods to develop the most efficient solutions.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with data collection, processing, editing, and production of various AAR publications and databases, including Rail Time Indicators, Weekly Railroad Traffic, and others as needed.
