The Quality Improvement Coordinator III provides ongoing leadership, support, instruction and facilitation to meet regulatory standards as well as to ensure that quality management and performance improvement standards are met. The Quality Improvement Coordinator III independently leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of continuous quality improvement efforts related to workflow, processes, root cause analysis, safety, and optimization. This position is responsible for the development of data collection, management, and reporting of operational and clinical data by utilizing appropriate intermediate statistical, analytical, and quality improvement methodologies to identify, implement, and maintain quality and performance improvement initiatives. The Quality Improvement Coordinator III will have the training and skills to be able to effectively train and lead Lean workshops, Kaizens, and other LEAN activities such as 5S and Kanbans. The Coordinator III will lead and guide peers in quality improvement activities. The Coordinator III will be both the owner of and a superuser of the laboratory document control system. The Coordinator III will work with other KU Hospitals at a laboratory system level to meet and achieve ongoing regulatory accreditation.

Required:

* Bachelor's Degree to meet CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing (60 units in chemistry, biology or medical technology)

* At least 5 years Healthcare Experience

* ASCP certification

* Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

* Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines while maintaining composure

* Excellent communication, writing, organizational, time-management, and presentation skills

* Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, administrative staff, clinical personnel, peers, and patients

* Demonstrate persistence in solving problems

* Travel between UKHS sites/locations

Preferred:

* Certified Professional in HealthCare Quality (CPHQ)

* Experience/working knowledge with database management tools (i.e. Microsoft Access, RedCap, Minitab, Visio, or other electronic data capture systems

* Master's Degree--MHSA, MBA, Nursing Organizational Leadership, Public Health, Informatics or other related field.
