Business Analytics Advisor – Healthcare Analytics

Role Description:

The Consumer and Clinical Analytics (CCA) unit of Cigna’s Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) organization is searching for an innovative business analytics advisor to bring best in class solutions to shape the future of Cigna’s Custom High Acuity Model (CHAM) for large, strategic national accounts. This person will be a member of a dynamic and pioneering team that will help lower total medical costs and maintain or improve clinical quality and outcomes. You will collaborate with other data and analytics teams and medical management business leads to assess existing analytic tools and refine or develop new tools to perform client- and market- level clinical opportunity analytics, test and measure innovative solutions to customer identification and engagement, help classify and prioritize clinical opportunities, and leverage provider and market solutions.

Role Summary:

The ideal candidate is someone with strong data analytics and visualization background, previous experience in the healthcare industry, statistical acumen, and the ability to effectively communicate data insights and recommendations to business stakeholders. The responsibilities are as follows:


  • Perform complex data research and analysis to support business operations and decision making including: creating data mining architectures/models/protocols, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets, and assess impacts resulting from an evolving data environment.

  • Perform analytics processes, including data and analytic development and interpretation. Ensure code and outputs are appropriately documented and can be understood by other analysts.

  • Analyze results and present analytics in a consumable method using overview, major takeaways, major questions, and next steps.

  • Works directly with representative D&A leads and matrix partners to understand project developments, assess impacts to data and analytics.

  • Report the outcome of analysis to Product Owner and program leads, and assists in the documentation of developments and program impacts.

  • Collaborate with partners in Account Management, Operations, Clinical Program, Product, and others to align on features of work in required focus areas and execute on new initiatives.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required in preferred fields of Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science or equivalent work experience

  • 2 or more years of health insurance related data/analytics experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches. Experience with diverse healthcare data preferred, including claims, provider, FFV, EHR, demographic, exercise, pharmacy, lab, biometrics, genomic, and text. Provider and/or network analytics experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with understanding of predictive and evaluative statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining concepts, and a track record of solving business problems with these methods.

  • Experience with data visualization in Tableau and/or Looker is required

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in complex matrix organizations and agile teams.

  • Expert-level analytics experience providing content/professional leadership on complex assignments/projects; exercising considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives; uses deep analytics knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders; focuses on providing thought leadership within own discipline but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business

  • Ability to independently wrangle data and perform data analysis in SAS/R/Python while managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience in challenging problems and driving outstanding results

  • Ability to understand the business model and provide valid and actionable insights to our customers (e.g., clients, internal matrix partners) with written, oral, and group presentations. 

  • Self-motivated, comfort with ambiguity, and flexible
