Overview/Function: The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the daily service and maintenance of the company’s delivery fleet vehicles and equipment (route delivery trucks, corporate cars, tractors, trailers, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.), to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles.
Major Responsibilities:
Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
Diagnoses cause of malfunctions and performs repairs from preventative maintenance up to component replacements
Diagnoses and troubleshoots general vehicle operating systems
Documents work performed, prepares vehicle records and reports in writing and electronically
Performs necessary adjustments in equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations and prepares required safety documentation
Complies with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
Performs other duties as required
Experience & Qualifications:
High School Diploma (or GED)
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance; a heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate obtained from an accredited vehicle maintenance vocational/trade school may substitute for one-year vehicle maintenance experience
Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification preferred
Class A CDL preferred (We will help candidate obtain).
Brake Inspection Certification eligible
Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment
Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission
Ability to enter and exit the driver’s compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normal available footholds and handholds
Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
Good written and verbal communication skills
Other duties as required.
Additional:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position will be office-based, however, will spend time at each of our facilities (offices, warehouse, body shop, maintenance). As such a variety of abilities are needed, as the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, kneel, and bend as needed. The ability to climb stairs, stand, walk, twist, grasp, reach, push, pull, sit, stoop, crouch, and climb will be required. The employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move items of up to 55 lbs.
This is a part-time position for up to 20 hours a week. Opportunity for very flexible hours, looking for someone to work on weekdays, ideally late afternoon to early evening.
