Job Description:

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Project Associate I - Research and Project Officer for the New Conversations project located in the Extension/Outreach Division.

This is a full-time six-month term appointment through 6/30/2021. This position provides project management support for the New Conversations Project located in the Scheinman Institute for Conflict Resolution in the Extension/Outreach Division of the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

The key responsibilities for this position include: writing research articles and summaries, managing contracts with external researchers, assisting the Executive Director and Academic Director with project planning, website management, and designing relevant website content, maintaining relationships with external funders and writing project updates and reports in connection with external partners and funders.

This position contributes to achieving successful project execution and demands the ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize work on projects, and the ability to work successfully with minimal supervision at a variety of tasks.

This is a full-time, term position located on the Ithaca campus. During the COVID restrictions, this position willwork remotely, until such time that the remote work restrictions are lifted based on University and unit guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination
-
Two years of experience with project management/administration, preferably in an academic setting
-
Relevant course work on private and public regulation
-
Prior experience writing legal papers and ability to draft research papers in the relevant domains is essential.
-
Must have domain knowledge --specific knowledge regarding labor practices in global supply chains in the global apparel industry, as well as social dialogue processes in third world garment exporting countries.
-
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage, implement and monitor projects from conception to completion.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience in academic research and writing methods.
-
Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team.
-
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
-
Expertise with standard computer software including Microsoft Office Products, Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Relations or related field

Background in labor practices in global supply chains

Some knowledge of Asian languages (e.g., Indonesian. Vietnamese and Tagalog)
