POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Reporting to the VP, Global Learning Solutions, the Head of Global Learning Strategy will be accountable for operationalizing Takeda’s global learning strategy by creating curating, and implementing enterprise-wide learning solutions that advance Takeda’s goal of becoming a lifelong learning organization.

The incumbent of this role will utilize a strategic approach to assess needs and create innovative best in class global learning programs that enable employees to thrive and reach their full potential.

The Director Global Learning Strategy will do this by driving an engagement strategy with internal stakeholders, including senior business leaders, functional HR peers, embedded learning teams, and external vendors and partners. The role will be accountable for creating a learning community across Takeda’s development functions to share and leverage best practices.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Lead the ongoing development and deployment of global signature learning solutions, including selecting and managing vendors or partners in design, deployment, measurement, etc. Be accountable for ensuring that all global learning solutions are connected to Takeda’s strategy.

  • Own and cultivate strategic relationships with senior business and market leaders, to continuously understand their evolving needs, and identify opportunities to deliver via learning solutions

  • Lead a team of learning specialists. Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including hiring,  overseeing new employee onboarding, and providing career development planning

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive and evolving understanding of leading-edge learning and development techniques and practices.  

  • Lead the creation of a learning community to ensure alignment of best practice and strategy throughout all learning experiences. Be accountable for ensuring  local best practices are made available to the entire learning community (i.e., building community of practice)

  • Oversee collaboration with critical internal partners (i.e., learning technology, metrics team, instructional designers). Be accountable for the end-user learning experience, ensuring that it  is seamless, consistent, and compliant with global standards

  • Take the lead in aligning with essential HR functions to ensure the learning strategy is aligned and embedded with performance management, executive development, DE+I, leadership development, etc.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:       


  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in learning and development roles

  • Advanced degree or certifications in Training, Adult Education, Human Resources, I/O Psychology preferred

  • Highly effective in stakeholder management; accountable for delivering results through a team of learning specialists

  • Demonstrated track record of leading diverse teams; able to coach and develop individuals to  achieve exceptional results  

  • Expertise in instructional design, development, delivery, and measurement of learning solutions

  • Exceptional influence skills required to build senior-level relationships.

  • Accountable for all facets of developing and delivering learning solutions linked to Takeda’s strategy

  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, interpersonal, relationship-building, influencing, analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to use sound judgment when problem-solving and present ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

  • Must be both strategic and proactive – able to develop and articulate a high-level learning strategy while monitoring and ensuring results and execution.
