Responsibilities

The documentation team is the front line for technical documents that help our customers use our products. As part of this team, the tech writers must possess the ability to design and develop content infrastructure; design, develop extend, author, and publish content using the Madcap authoring and publishing infrastructure while aligning with Equinix’s documentation strategy.

The ideal candidate would be able to recommend and implement ways to streamline and automate our current processes and systems. They would be responsible for creating net-new technical documentation, improve and maintain our existing content and be able to work under pressure and meet release deadlines.


  • Structure, develop, and deliver – high quality, user friendly product documentation for customers.


  • Write, review, edit new and existing product documentation with emphasis on technical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and overall quality.


  • Author and publish content in Madcap Flare.


  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and other internal teams to gather and research relevant information to enable successful documentation.


  • Establish an efficient process for maintaining and updating documentation on an on-going basis.


  • Perform gap analysis periodically and determine the interim and ultimate documentation approach and go-forward set of materials.


  • Collaborate with translation team and incorporate translated content into documentation


  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to import projects, build, and publish MadCap Flare using Git and Jenkins.


  • Review documentation for adherence to the style guide and to Equinix standards.


  • Recommend and implement automation processes using tools such as PowerShell


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technical writing, or equivalent experience.


  • 3 years' of experience preferred, 5 years experience in technical documentation, and/or developer outreach/technology partner management roles desired.


  • Experience documenting cloud, networking, infrastructure, and security technologies.


  • Knowledge of tools such as Visio, MadCap Flare, Git, and PowerShell.


  • Experience using Git to manage asynchronous collaboration across large teams.


  • Demonstrate experience in writing and proofreading of content, especially technology-related content.


  • Great communication skills and the ability to work well with others.


  • Ability to handle stressful, time-critical projects and deliver great user outcomes.
