Position Description

Operate, monitor and maintain coke cutting equipment within the coke petroleum, coke handling facility by performing the following duties:


  • Perform minor maintenance on inbound conveying system.

  • Assist with site cleaning.

  • Understands coke cutting and equipment operations within the unit.

  • Has general knowledge of bulk material handling operations.

  • Performs basic trouble shooting of petroleum coke cutting equipment.

  • Performs housekeeping duties of petroleum coke cutting area.

  • Maintains and lubricates inbound conveying system.

  • As directed performs activities of co-workers.


Level of position will be based on education and experience
Position Requirements


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's driver license and have the willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.

  • Must possess Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.

  • Must possess heavy equipment operator's certification for equipment being operated and when required.

  • Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

  • Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week, weekends, and holidays as dictated by operations.

  • In order to appropriately perform essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.

  • Monitors own work to ensure quality and strives to increase productivity.

  • Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials proper and reports potentially unsafe conditions.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.

  • Must treat people with respect and uphold organizational values.

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environment.

  • Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signals.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
