Position Summary

A Release Manager is responsible for the release of new product offerings, cross functional consultations, critical path scheduling and dependencies in support of key F5 Market initiatives. We get it done!

The focus of the assigned projects is to insure timely release to support business objectives and support revenue generation and customer shipment opportunities. The Release Manager participates in the process of creating and verifying the final release product or service to be rolled out to the user groups. Three types of releases are worked through release management: Hardware and software major releases, involving new features and enhancements; minor releases involving minor enhancements; and patch releases involving critical and major updates. It includes the system updates or data entry of F5 business systems, WORKFRONT, AGILE, ORACLE attributes.

The unique benefit provided by a Release Manager include the successful management of projects through creation of full production bills of material, system of record change control, SKU test plans, validation to specification verification. Workfront collaboration tool usage and reporting. In addition, brings critical thinking, teamwork, and self manages daily work environment. Understands risk management and communicates effectively.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Participate in Product Life Cycle Management (PLM). Drive SDIM (SKU Design and Implementation) process from execute commit (Strategy) through Implementation Phase

  • Validate and test production platform and license BOMs; Draft Agile (PDM) bills of material and coordinate change orders with Product Release Specialist.

  • Creates Oracle Configurator Developer rules and product configuration validations.

  • Posts Major SW release candidates to appropriate download servers and Clouds (AWS, Azure, Google, Alibaba)

  • Creates Release Event Schedules in support of PD Master Schedule and manages Release Check List through RTM/RTW/RTS

  • Participate in product beta releases

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Detailed understanding of the product life cycle model for both hardware and software.

  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum methodology and DevOps release trains

  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, self-management.

  • Excellent teaming skills, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, time critical project control, life cycle management.

  • Ability to define and build process procedures for specific functional responsibilities.

  • May require the ability to occasionally travel via automobile or airplane.

Qualifications

4-year degree. Business Operations Management or Information Systems degrees preferred. Project Management certificate desired.

Experience with system data bases: Jira, Agile, Oracle, Workfront, CA PPM, or like systems.

Minimum 4 years’ experience in high tech company or similar business.
