Senior Manager Technical Operations at ALDEVRON MADISON, LLC in Madison, Wisconsin

Job Description:

The Sr Manager, Technical Operations is an innovative scientific leader that is able to effectively lead a skilled scientific team. She/he is a technical subject matter expert (SME) in the areas of product development, manufacturing process development and analytical method development that provides scientific support for internal and external discussions.

Responsibilities


  • Manage daily activities and serve as the technical SME of a scientific team that is focused on product development and complex process development projects

  • Provide technical guidance for method development and optimization for Upstream Processing, Down Stream Processing and Analytical Method Development

  • Lead product development function working closely with scientists, Product Management, Clients and R&D colleagues

  • Client centric leader focused on creating a great experience for clients with on-time completion of projects and providing technical guidance for internal and external communications

  • Translate project proposals into detailed work plans; present team members with work plans, ensuring that they have information and resources necessary for successful execution of the project

  • Assist Aldevron’s Client Relations (Technical Sales) Team with review of project opportunities and development of project proposals

  • Serve as technical SME during client calls, pre and post purchase order

  • Develop direct reports so they can assist in scientific support of client projects including serving as technical SME on client calls

  • Accountable for technology transfer of manufacturing and analytical test methods from Aldevron’s research-grade laboratories to Aldevron’s GMP laboratories

  • Support transfer of manufacturing and analytical test methods from small-scale development to large-scale manufacturing

Required Skills


  • Protein expression optimization experience using various constructs, host systems, equipment over a range of protein classes

  • Purification of recombinant proteins using all common chromatography modes at the mg to multi-gram scale

  • Experience in process engineering to support effective transfer to manufacturing

  • Expertise with the AKTA purification platform, including the Unicorn software package, ideally with experience from AKTA 25 through AKTA Pilot

  • Expertise with protein analytical methods, including HPLC analysis (RP-HPLC, aSEC, and analytical ion exchange), in vitro enzymatic activity measurements, western blotting, and SDS-PAGE

Must-Haves


  • Below education and combined years of work experience in the field of protein biochemistry or closely related field:

    • B.S./B.A. and 20+ years

    • M.S. and 15+ years

    • PhD and 10+ years 


  • Prior management of a biotechnology laboratory team is required

Work Hours/Shift

Monday-Friday – 8 am – 5 pm
