Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the leadership within Information Technology, collects user requirements, designs architecture, performs programming, implements, documents and trains end users of custom, multi user application software for use across areas of Renown Health.

The incumbent will be familiar with software code and tools (such as Microsoft SQL Server MS Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, .NET, C#, VB/VBA/VB Script, Visual Studio, MA Access/MS Office) to deliver custom applications for internal use at Renown Health.

This position works with the other members of the Information Technology teams, including the Application Specialists and works with the user community to develop solutions that meet overall functional needs relating to business processes in need of automation. Also provides full life cycle support and enhancements to ensure maximum benefit of these custom solutions. The incumbent has responsibility to fully oversee the project management of custom application development and underlying databases and server resources; and works with assigned clinical and business areas to ensure realization of business and user requirements. This position will be focused on their assigned area(s) of the organization; and will also help provide leadership to ensure cross-coordination with other teams and other areas of the organization in order to optimize investments in development tools and hardware resources.

The position provides instruction and guidance to Application Specialists and the customer community regarding technical information and application performance and support. Participates as an informal leader in creating solutions to other departments to help resolve their business needs.

Additionally, this position requires a thorough understanding and/or technical researching of related vendor supplied applications to support interfacing to and enhancement of these software products via custom development.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The position requires meeting directly with customers to determine needs and building custom applications per specifications. Responsible for the development of project plans specific to projects they are tasked to complete. Acts as project manager for their projects. Responsible for interface implementation and ongoing maintenance and documentation and training of the applications they build.

8. Strong user interface and navigation design instincts

9. Strong skills in all aspects of report design and development.

10. Knowledge of Internet applications (web browsers, FTP)

11. Communicating effectively with users and vendors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, Business, or Healthcare field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of two years experience with software application development. Development experience may include but is not limited to: HTML, Java, Java Script, .NET, C#, VB/VBA/VB Script, Visual Studio, SQL, and Microsoft Development Tools. Knowledge of FTP (moving, organizing, and copying of files), web-based applications, internet security, and software installation on a broad range of platforms preferred. One year of experience in effectively managing development projects from inception to completion. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in health care systems.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Typing: 45+ words per minute.
