Merchandiser - Dairy Feed

Summary:

The Dairy Feed Merchandiser will oversee all contract execution. Responsible for merchandising activities of buying and selling dairy/agricultural commodities. Proactively develop and maintain positive customer relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Negotiate purchases of agricultural commodities and co-products and sale of same in accordance with established company practices and at margin levels representative of business plans


• Uncover leads and develop relationships with customers to impact commodity and branded feed sales


• Learn the QA process and understand QA role in attracting and maintaining customers


• Develop skills necessary to support sales force including, but not limited to, purchasing, inventory management, logistics, contracting, and delivery of commodities and finished feed products


• Maintain contact with customers in relation to their existing and potential volume for business


• Build relationships with private nutritionists to gain sales to their clients


• Attend events like World Dairy Expo and make farm calls to meet clients and prospects


• Understand the process and become aware of financial risk associated with trading feeds and commodities


• Be willing to communicate with customers when accounts receivable are past due


• Maintain close working relationship with suppliers, transportation companies/personnel, customers and manufacturing facilities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher


• 5 plus years of experience; Dairy background preferred


• High level of detail, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills


• Positive, self-motivated individual with organization, communication, and negotiation skills; commitment to continuous learning


• Strong customer service commitment


• Ability to maintain professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment


• Knowledgeable on local markets and other dairy/agricultural market fundamentals
