ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor has an immediate opening for a Security Manager. The following primary position responsibilities and key position requirements are intended to provide an overview of the position but are not all- inclusive.
Responsibilities
* The Security Manager will manage the department in a responsible manner
* and:ensure efficient operations are maintained
* ensure the department remains responsive to the needs of the facility, its personnel, and the surrounding community
* ensure the Security and Fire Departments take appropriate and reasonable measures to provide a safe working environment for employees and provide for the protection of company and personal assets
* provide necessary leadership and direction to the department
* lead by example in a manner that reinforces the integrity of the office and sets the standard for ethical & moral values within the department
* ensure the Security and Fire Departments at ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor have policies & procedures in place to comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as ArcelorMittal Corporate Security Standards & Objectives.
* The Security Manager has full responsibility and freedom to act on all matters that impact the overall security of the facility -- including but not limited to: stationing of personnel, access control, random inspections, emergency response, conducting & managing criminal investigations, interactions with outside resources, traffic enforcement, and duties relating to applicable U.S. Homeland Security & U.S. Maritime security regulations.
* The Security Manager provides the vision to develop and manage security programs, prepares & administers operating budgets, and develops the skills of personnel within the department.
* Stakeholders include all Division Managers, outside contractors, various government agencies, and neighborhood residents. The Security Manager will oversee a department consisting of up to (80) contract Fire/Rescue and Security Officers.
* The Security Manager reports to the Division Manager of Health and Safety to ensure all Corporate Security Standards are implemented and may be called upon to provide security related support to other ArcelorMittal USA facilities upon request. The Security Manager works closely with all Division and Department Managers throughout the plant as well as Local Police & Fire Departments, the United States Coast Guard, and other government or private agencies as required.
Minimum Requirements
* Minimum Education: Bachelor s degree in Criminal Justice or related field
* Minimum of five years sworn service as a municipal police officer in the State of Indiana; or in a comparable sworn peace officer capacity with a recognized police agency
* Valid State of Indiana Driver s License.
* Self-motivated with minimal direction required for day to day operations.
* Proven communication (verbal and written), analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
* Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment. Climbing stairs, ladders, and walking inclines. Able to work/walk safely on uneven surfaces. Able to work outdoors in all weather.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Requirements
* An advanced degree from an accredited college or university in law enforcement administration or a related discipline.
* Advanced law enforcement leadership training through the completion of a nationally recognized program -- such as the FBI National Academy/ Northwestern University/ or the Southern Police Institute.
* Certification in industrial security management such as the CPP designation (Certified Protection Professional) through the ASIS International organization.
* Five or more years of service in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
* Five years or more of industrial security management experience in a large facility with a unionized work environment.
