ImmunityBio (formerly NantCell) develops novel combinations of chemo-immune sensitizers, cell therapies, cytokines, vaccines, neoepitopes, and monoclonal antibody immunotherapies to orchestrate the NK and T Cell response for cancer and infectious diseases.


Research Associate, Protein Purification 

POSITION SUMMARY

ImmunityBio seeks a highly motivated, full-time research associate to work in our protein purification group. The group's responsibility is to purify and characterize biological molecules (mAbs/fusion proteins) that come from different stages in the novel protein discovery pipeline to support further development. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in science or engineering, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, good work habits, and willingness to work as part of a team.  Experience working in a wet lab environment outside of a classroom is strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Buffer preparation

  • Protein purification

  • Protein characterization via analytical assays

  • Maintain sample inventory of purified proteins

  • Communicate results through the supervisor and written documentation. Will present results in group meetings.   

  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and stock supplies

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Life Science or other related disciplines

  • 1 - 3 years or more of industry experience or research lab working with proteins

  • Familiarity and experience of antibody purification preferred.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES


  • An understanding of protein purification (including gel electrophoresis and filtration).

  • Experience with Cytivia Akta Pure or Akta Avant & High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is a plus.

  • Performing calculations for buffer preparations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer software programs necessary for analysis and data presentation purposes.

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Willing to learn new techniques and multi-task to increase productivity. Able to follow instructions and share insight and concerns about work/results.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Working environment is within an approximately 2,000 square foot space with equipment sufficient to compete with the tasks described above.

  • Daily:  Lifting and transporting mammalian bioreactors.

  • Occasionally:  Transporting small equipment required
