District Overview

Kiewit's Northwest District is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington.¯ We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast including Alaska and Hawaii.

Location

This position will be on-site at our construction project at the Salton Sea (60 miles south east of Palm Springs).

Responsibilities

  • Recover vertebrate fossils in the field¯

  • Collect and salvage fossil materials¯ ¯

  • Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level

  • Review and interpret environmental specifications and drawings

  • Understand state and local regulations and review requirements

  • Prepare site specific plans and submit required reports

  • Provide input to work plans and participate in meetings

  • Communicate with field crews to ensure understanding of project environmental requirements

    Qualifications



  • Bachelors or Associate degree in geology or paleontology or demonstrated experience showing ability to recognize fossils in a biostratigraphic context ¯¯ ¯ ¯ ¯

  • 1 year experience monitoring in the state or geologic province of the specific project¯ ¯

  • Documented experience performing paleontological monitoring

  • Proficiency in recognizing various types of fossils, in collection methods, and in other paleontological field techniques #LI-KM1
