Samuel Packaging Systems Group?s Equipment Technology department currently has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. This is an exciting time to be a part of the creation of the production department, help lead the founding of a product production discipline, and provide meaningful impact to the future of the Samuel product line! The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, integrating and implementing Samuel?s in-house manufacturing systems and related processes. You will work with a cross functional team refining product designs to increase productivity and decrease production costs.
Responsibilities:
Design the layout of production equipment and workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency
Design, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing (Six Sigma) to enhance manufacturing throughput, quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts
Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate processes
Collaborate with the quality specialist to design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or to validate process requirements
Estimate production costs, times and staffing requirements for new designs
Prepare reports summarizing information and trends related to manufacturing performance
Prepare documentation and protocols for new manufacturing processes or procedures
Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing
Supervise technician(s) and train new staff in production processes and methods
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
5+ years leading manufacturing teams required
Automotive industry experience preferred
Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem solve effectively
Knowledge of safety procedures
High-level understanding of Microsoft Excel
Impeccable attention to detail
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Qualifications:
Bachelors? degree in a related engineering field required
7+ years working in a manufacturing environment
Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus
Ability to travel up to 10%
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work in a manufacturing environment with use of proper PPE required
Varying ambient temperatures
Must be able to lift 75 lbs
Will be some contact with liquid paint, solvents, greases and oils
