Sr. Research Associate, Host-Microbiome Science at RB LLC in Montvale, New Jersey

Job Description:

Overview of New Team Purpose and Mission  RB is establishing a new team to lead foundational research in several key areas: Virology, Mycology, and home and human Microbiome. You will be a part of a team focused on expanding current capabilities and identifying new areas that may be used to develop innovative products and product claims. Using a platform approach, this team will be charged with building relevant research programs, capability, and partnerships.
 

Responsibilities: •    Perform microbiological tests to ensure probiotic product quality and viability, under applicable GLP guidelines 
•    Conduct stability studies for established and new probiotic products, utilizes aseptic technique to ensure sterility of all media, equipment, and work areas, sample preparation, sample analysis, enumeration by CFU plating and microscopy, calibration, tracking, as well as reporting of material, process, and product conformances to ensure RB's Quality standards are met.
•    Demonstrated experience in performing analytical tests in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ability to interpret testing results and follow SOP document for appropriate action.
•    Ability to effectively communicate with managers, and co-ordinate with various cross functional projects within and outside RB under Microbiome Management Science Platforms. 
•    Possess a working knowledge of GMP and compliance requirements.
•    Experience in BSL2 microorganisms and culturing anerobic microorganisms
•    Lead research activities in a diverse microbiology laboratory including virology, mycology, and bacteriology with a wide research base
•    Plan and execute studies related to host-microbiome interaction that lead to new product development in probiotics/nutraceutical space
•    Maintain clear, legible, and detailed laboratory notebooks and computer files
•    Proficiency in analyzing data, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve routine issues using appropriate information

Qualifications: •    A fresh Ph.D degree in Microbiology, Molecular biology, Immunology or Master degree  with 4-5 years work experience in Molecular biology, Microbiology, immunology or related field
•    Hands on research experience in an industrial and academic setting working directly in areas related to the microbiology 
•    Previous experience in microbiology with a working understanding of molecular biology and immunology
•    Prior work with standard scientific equipment: UV spectrophotometer, pH meter, luminometers, Hamilton or equivalent liquid handling systems or other automated systems, Keyence, LCMS, biohazard safety cabinets, anaerobic chamber, etc
•    Meticulous organization and record keeping skills
•    Attention to detail
•    Ability to work collaboratively with others as a member of the team to ensure that projects are handled smoothly and cooperatively to enhance success of project and maintain strong relationship within all pasts of company
•    MOA studies
•    Bioassays to support preclinical studies (e.g. ELISA, MIC, MBEC, time-kill, lytic assays, plaque assays, synergy studies, resistance determinations, etc)
