Position Description

The Software Engineer will be responsible for supporting low-level embedded design for a medical diagnostic instrument. Design elements include, communication protocols, motion control, fluorescence sensing and heater controls.

Responsibilities:

- Support development and debugging of existing embedded C designs
- Create and maintain software requirements, architecture, and design documentation
- Modify existing software to fix errors, improve the overall quality and functionality or update compatibility with other software
- Identify and fix gaps in the design related to functionality or documentation
- Develop and/or perform software automated testing procedures, solutions, and frameworks to ensure software functions as needed
- Participate in design and code reviews

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of programming experience, shipping code and unit tests in an Object-Oriented Programming language (embedded C)
- Experience with embedded design (C code)
- Experience in graphical user design for Microsoft Window Applications
- Strong commitment to quality designs, automation, and documentation. Device is a medical product that must maintain a high level of quality and documentation
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite

The following are considered a plus:
- Experience with Python and/or PowerShell scripting
- Experienced with STMicrocontrollers or ARM architecture
- Knowledge of source control configuration and issue tracking tools
- Experience with serial communication: RS232, I2C, One-Wire, USB, CAN
- Experience with EEPROM and FLASH memory interfacing and architecture
- Experience with basic hardware tools: Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supply, programmers, etc.
- Experience in a regulated industry.
