Applicant will be hired through TRAX's subcontract company, Shenandoah Fleet Management.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for troubleshooting, inspecting, rebuilding, repairing, and modifying a wide variety of vehicles and equipment in support of GSFC logistics support contract.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties involved in troubleshooting, inspecting, overhauling, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of automotive vehicles, trucks and equipment. Utilizes a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to analyze malfunctions and makes repairs required to return vehicle/equipment to operational status.

Conducts inspections to determine work to be accomplished.

Conducts safety inspections on all vehicles and road tests repaired vehicles for road worthiness.

Independently determines methods, tools, and parts to be used.

Accomplishes work within the time limits specified by the authorized labor guide, maintaining manufacturer's and SOP standards for repairs.

Maintains shop cleanliness.

Safeguards tools and equipment and maintains them in the proper working condition.

Repairs vehicles which fail emissions tests.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Capable of performing automotive repairs and maintenance to various types of vehicles and equipment. Knowledge of automotive tools and testing equipment. Must be physically capable of bending, stooping, lifting and working in uncomfortable positions to accomplish some vehicle maintenance tasks. Required to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in order to drive/test repaired vehicles. CDL requires the ability to pass an annual physical exam and willingness to undergo random drug screening.
EXPERIENCE:

Three years' experience in vehicle maintenance, or two years experience in equipment maintenance, or a combination thereof. Certification may be substituted for one year of experience.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Automotive Standards of Excellence (ASE) certification in the repair of cars and light trucks, and medium and heavy trucks is desirable.
