The Insitu Engineering Team has a future need for an experienced and skilled Chief Engine Design Engineer. If you are interested in learning more about Insitu or this potential need, apply directly.

Develops and maintains strategic technology roadmap; consults on matters related to strategy for engine design subsystems. Establishes and approves engine design specifications and performance targets. Reviews and approves performs design, layout and evaluation of engine systems and components. Oversees the development of methods and technologies to improve performance, reliability, durability and manufacturability of engines. Establishes technical performance measures and oversees product development risk management. Defines the criteria for testing procedures and root cause analysis; reviews the results and consults on the findings. Establishes and monitors product performance expectations and acceptance criteria. Monitors subsystem design and development activities for safety, reliability, supportability, sustainability, maintainability, upgradability, architectural consistency and design consistency. Establishes risk and opportunity management criteria and thresholds. Reviews and approves overall engine design packages for safety and suitability for release. Establishes technical performance metrics. Establishes validation and verification strategy. Oversees technical reviews and corrective actions. Assesses impact on product scope/design schedules and takes mitigating actions. Approves reviews regarding engine flight and bench test data findings.

Knowledge of mechanical engineering theories (e.g., compressible/incompressible fluid flow, Bernoulli's Theorem, thermodynamics, control theory, Mohr's theory of stress) and methods/formula selection (e.g., vibration analysis, load calculations, heat transfer, flow, root cause analysis, pressure drop).

Leads tasks and people effectively; guides and coaches others to improve technical skills and achieve challenging goals; inspires and motivates others; solicits and considers others' opinions; takes independent action; seeks out and accomplishes special assignments and professional development opportunities; recommends technical process improvements; demonstrates strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing work assignments; meets commitments.

Must have internal combustion engine design experience in 2/4 stroke, carbureted/electronic fuel injected, spark ignited/compression ignition, gasoline and heavy fuel delivery/combustion.

This job is limited to employees who, in the performance of their assigned work, regularly apply engineering disciplines to the research, design, development, test, and evaluation of company products, facilities, or manufacturing process and have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Typical experience: 20 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 15 years' experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.
