A CMM Programmer Inspection Specialist performs a role that consists of a variety of tasks that are vital to the mold making process. It requires someone who has extensive CMM programming skills as well as traditional inspection skills and excellent planning/communication skills to ensure that the many components going through the manufacturing process come together in the designated timeline so that the customers due date are met. An extensive overall knowledge of plastic injection molds and blueprint reading to recognize the importance of dimensional accuracies, seal-offs and finishes are required for this area. The CMM Programmer Inspection Specialist is expected to measure parts currently in progress and document finished product before final shipment.

· Write CMM programs utilizing Hexagon Global Image machines to inspect high tolerance steel components used in a plastic injection mold.

· Utilize traditional inspection tools and methods to verify CMM findings.

· Use blueprints, CAD files, written and verbal work instructions to create files that will meet dimensional accuracy while also meeting the functional needs inside the mold

· Actively verifying and monitoring the quality of surface finish of components being manufactured using microscopes and optical tools.

· Take personal ownership of all components being processed through the department to ensure the mold delivery due date is met

· Communicate with the department Group Leader any concerns or issues that may jeopardize quality or completion date of the mold

· Understand the critical dimensions, seal-offs, mold finishes and other features that may require special attention to achieve the proper finish

· Take time to understand what may be finished by other areas, whether outside Vendors or other internal departments to verify that there won’t be any missing features or duplicate processes on any given component

· There will be times where you will need to interface with the Designers, Programmers, Polishers, Tool Makers, and other personnel to be provided all critical information needed to carry out your given responsibilities

· Be aware of the status of the incoming components that will be going through the manufacturing process so that the delivery timeline is met and finished electrodes are created ahead of time

· Document final critical dimensions before mold completion.

· Log into ERP system making sure you are using the correct job#, component, operation and machine number. When you complete an operation on a component, mark the completion quantity to help keep the shop schedule accurate

· Work with operators to make sure CMM programs are ready to inspect WIP before the components need to be inspected

· Train, guide, and monitor others if asked upon by the department Group Leader.

· Participate in continuous improvements efforts to improve shop operations and mold making process

· Manage annual calibration certificates for all tools used for final inspection.

· Vast knowledge of plastic injection molds is required

· The ability to communicate effectively

· Excellent measurement and analytical skills to accurately measure components with many types of tools to tolerances as close as .0001”

· Excellent knowledge of molding components such as cores, cavities, slides, stripper rings, inserts, etc.

· Strong computer skills are required

· PC-Dmis Version 2015 or newer experience required. (Pro/E and Cimatron experience a plus)

· Nypromold will provide PC-Dmis training as needed

· Nypromold will provide any additional training as required
