This position will provide support to manage and operate a wide variety of utilities equipment including coal fired boiler, gas/oil boilers, plant air systems, plant water systems, chillers for plant Utilities at Clinton. Must be capable to meet ITP, GMP, and IDEM requirements to the utility services essential to plant operations.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Able to operate a variety of large equipment.

  • Proficient at utilizing computerized control systems.

  • Communicates effectively, both written and verbal.

  • Outdoor work may be required in some areas.

  • Capable of learning other equipment associated with the department (chillers, cooling towers and well systems).

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Attention to reporting and recording details.

  • Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.


Reliability Assessment Management:


  • Operator assumes responsibility for the efficient operation and monitoring of all utilities equipment as assigned.

  • Continuous improvement in meeting customer requirements is a high priority.

  • Will utilize and is capable of understanding control systems to ensure that utilities is both in control and capable while working to reduce variability.

  • Able to use event management system to document utilities incidents, conduct root cause investigations, assign and complete countermeasures.

  • Manages and performs operator PMs.

  • Uses technical materials or blueprints to troubleshoot process.

  • Capable of using supporting computer systems.

  • Uses information such as PI data, operating logs, event notices, and other sources of data to make improvement suggestions.

​​Compliance Management:


  • Follows all safety practices and procedures, issues permits to keep daily activities in compliance.

  • Knows and follows all applicable GMP policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FDA and other quality requirements.

  • Protects our environment.

  • Responsible for GDP’s in Trains other operators in proper use of equipment and operating procedures.

  • Good documentation practice.

  • Meets customer needs by striving for 100% uptime.

  • Contributes to a supportive work environment by acknowledging and building on the ideas and contributions of others. Participates in, accepts, and supports group decisions.

  • Communicates with peers and supervision to ensure consistent operating practices and provide progress on improvement activities.

  • Sets and maintains challenging objectives that link to business and work-unit goals.

  • Effectively retains and understands all regulatory and policy guidelines and requirements affecting their area.

  • Follows and understands all safety procedures, practices, and policies.

  • Uses performance management process.

Regulatory Specific Requirements:


  • Execute regulatory requirements per approved SOP and training. For example, applicability of RCRA regulations must be identified, with waste properly characterized and managed.

  • All associated training identified in the learning plan must be completed by the due date.
