SENIOR MARKET/PORTFOLIO RISK ANALYST

Pacific Life is looking to invest in bright, agile new talent to ensure we continue to innovate and strengthen relationships with our policyholders. It s in this spirit that we are currently looking to add a Senior Market/Portfolio Risk Analyst to our Corporate Division.

As a member of the Corporate Model Risk Management team, you will play a key role in Pacific Life s growth and long-term success. You will play an integral part in the execution of managing model risk, as described in the responsibilities below. You will have a broad view across the organization, by working closely with various teams from each of the divisions on all types of models, e.g., advanced analytics, machine learning, financial reporting, assumption-setting, pricing and product development, risk and capital management, strategic planning and forecasting. You will report to the Model Risk Director within ERM.

HOW YOU LL CONTRIBUTE

* Perform model review/validation for medium and high risk models by reviewing model input (data and assumptions), calculation engine, output and controls/governance

* Support the effort of MRM enhancement that addresses advanced analytics, including machine learning algorithms

* Partner with data science and infrastructure peers and operational managers throughout Pacific Life to improve modeling quality, and share advanced modeling techniques and learnings

* Communicate model review results to the model owner, divisional leadership, and appropriate governance committees

* Collaborate with various stakeholders including divisional MRM leads and members in Modeling, Valuation, Risk Management, Audit, and MRM Advisory Group

* Develop training materials, tools and templates based on the MRM Policy and Standards to assist the divisions in further embedding MRM framework

* Prepare periodic model risk status reports for the MRM Advisory Group, Enterprise MRM Committee, Enterprise Risk Committee, and PL Audit Committee

* Participate in other MRM related activities to support ERM s MRM mission, including participating in the modeling community, discussing MRM topics across divisions, and/or supporting model risk activities across the Company

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS

* 5 + years of experience in areas of data science, corporate finance, financial modeling, or risk and capital management

* Professional designation, such as ASA, FSA, or CFA

* MS in advanced analytics or quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Math or Engineering

* Strong understanding of financial concepts, Statutory, GAAP, or economic capital framework

* Demonstrated knowledge of modeling software (e.g., Prophet, GGY-AXIS, TYCHE, R, Python, Matlab, H20, Alteryx)

* Experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations for business units

* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex issues to non technical audience

* Ability to build trusted relationships while challenging and influencing in a constructive manner
