Job Description:

Manages 24-hour departments providing patient care services and ensures staff provides high quality, accessible, cost effective care, and patient focused services to members across the continuum

Manages operations of 24-hour departments
Manages licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned
Establishes, implements, and maintains patient care and service standards
Acts as practice change champion

Manages daily staffing and productivity
Promotes department sustainability and cost containment efforts to achieve budget
Assists director with development of annual budget, equipment needs and forecasts, and capital planning
Oversees and develops standards of care and standards of practice, directs fiscal management, and quality improvement activities

Manages licensed and non-licensed associates in the provision of care to patients in the assigned unit/department
Evaluates associate performance and provides timely feedback and opportunities for improvement
Partners with human resources business partner to address associate relations and disciplinary issues
Utilizes feedback and data from annual survey to improve associate and physician engagement
Creates an environment conducive to professional staff growth to promote recruitment, retention, and quality patient care

Aligns service goals and objectives to support department and hospital strategies
Proactively develops quality indicators and quality improvements for service line/ department
Incorporates department protocols for specific patient populations in planning practice and documentation
Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care

Acts as an extension of the Director by performing selected leadership duties as delegated by the Director

Develops and monitors budgets for the appropriate use of human and material resources
Monitors financial performance and identifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service

Determines the appropriate staff mix for department and develops processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff
Ensures on going staff development
Manages and resolves human resource, employee and department safety, and risk management issues

Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policy and procedures which support the organizations goals and business objectives and ensures they are met
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing is required
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval
(ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service
)
