Senior Director of Product Software and Architecture

The Product Software and Platform Software team at Equinix builds next-generation software products and architecture for our Equinix software platform and services offerings. We are looking for a hardworking, experienced technology leader to lead our next generation Product Security, Cloud infrastructure, DevOps engineering, SRE, and Continued Engineering teams. You will be working closely with the product and platform engineer team, cyber-security team, architects, and the product management team. This role will ensure all our customer facing software and products provide reliable, secure, and highly scalable SaaS experience for our customers and partners.

The successful candidate will have broad software development and leadership in a multi global location environment. This is a role that will help craft the culture and development of the Equinix platform for tomorrow. 

Responsibilities

• Lead and build a high-performance Customer Reliability Engineering team that includes Product Security, DevOps and SRE, automation, Cloud migration and operation, and continuous engineering




• Work with our product & platform engineering teams, architects, product management, user experience team to understand and support platform vision and requirements




• Collaborate with a multi-functional team to define and lead SLA’s for uptime & monitoring




• Lead Continued Engineering and SRE team to ensure customer facing application and infrastructure availability, reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance




• Validated thought leadership and rapid delivery of infrastructure as a code and support all Product Platform team’s continuous integration and continuous deployment




• Champion cloud operation and operational excellence




• Provide Product Security roadmap for the Equinix Product and Service Portfolio to identify gaps and execution plan




• Collaborate with CISO and other parts of the organization to strengthen our DevSecOps, thread modeling, threat intelligence and monitoring




• Prioritize Security and DevOps requirements, influence roadmap, and strategy, and driving impact with the rest of the business partners




• Drives innovation among the teams recognizes innovation and helps communicate new ideas across teams in multiple global locations




• Build a true DevOps, SRE, and automation culture

Qualification

• 7+ years professional experience in a software development leadership role. 10+ years proven experience in software management leading large global software team preferred




• BS degree in Computer Science or EE engineering preferred




• You have led and developed an efficient DevOps / SRE engineering team




• Do you possess a strong background in running internet scale cloud-based production systems with at least one of the top public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with a detailed understanding of Network, Compute, and Storage?




• Do you have a proven track record in building and running production system utilizing microservices and distributes systems architecture at scale?




• Experience with security technology such as SSO, OIDC, IAM, OAuth 2.0 and compliance and privacy guidelines such as GDPR, CUI, ISO, and PCI




• Working understanding of cyber-security and system monitoring tools and technology




• Experience with monitoring and observability to proactively predict failure




• Direct experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Git, Kubernetes, Terraform, Terragrunt, and Ansible is a must!




• You have passion for collaborating cross-functionally & cross-product to identify and own the RCA and mitigation plan and reduce MTTR




• Hands-on experience with Agile-scrum methodology and test-driven development




• Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-functional organizational ability to influence others
