We are currently looking for a Cybersecurity & Network Software Engineer to join Thales in Melbourne, FL. The Cybersecurity & Network Software Engineer is responsible for design, installation, maintenance and support for all aspects of networks’ administration including security operating systems, server and network hardware, and application interfaces to corresponding components in the network. The candidate must be a proficient technical leader and have extensive knowledge of securing and designing network topologies for software systems that utilize Linux platforms, and multi-tiered, client-server technologies. Experience in developing complex C/C++ applications on the Linux platform is required. Experience in media management, streaming and related areas is a plus. Candidate must also possess excellent communication skills that will help in the job of leading, and facilitating discussions between stake holders.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Designs, configures, tests and maintains complex networks and system components for for deployment in on-wing IFEC systems.
Analyzes networks and components for configuration and security compliance requirements to assure confidentiality, integrity and availability of on-wing IFEC systems. This includes network capacity planning and encryption algorithms for all on-wing network configurations.
Facilitates network changes by effective communication with stakeholders; assures compliance with change control procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
BS/BE degree in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity or related IT fields or job experience equivalent with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience, or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field with eight (8) years of experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of proven work experience as a network security engineer or information security engineer.
Experience in creating and maintaining security systems.
Thorough understanding of the latest technologies, security principles, and protocols.
Complete command on dealing with security systems, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, anti-virus software, log management, authentication systems, content filtering, etc.
Understanding of the web-related terminologies and software such as web applications, web related protocols, service-oriented architectures, and web services.
Ability to work under pressure and stressful scenarios.
Ability to communicate and report network security incidents and issues to the upper management.
Ability to define and implement the results of malicious code, mobile code, and anti-virus software.
Knowledge of computer forensic tools, data loss prevention methods, and disaster recovery methods.
Experience with several software development environments including C++, Linux, RTOS, databases
Experience with all aspects of software development life cycle
Experience in software security and network design and development on Linux-based systems following an industrial process
In-depth knowledge of systems design, architecture, and implementing large business systems.
Experience with testing frameworks (i.e. google test), mocking frameworks (i.e. google mock), and static analysis tools (i.e. CppCheck).
Ability to interact with a wide range of Customer groups, both internal and external
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be computer literate with Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Project
Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Skills and Experience:
CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), and GIAC Security Certifications.
Manual and dynamic ethical hacking experience using security tools (Burp Suite, AppScan)
Experience conducting vulnerability assessments on internal systems and applications
White-box, Grey-box, or Black-box testing experience
Expert knowledge of OWASP Top 10
Experience with SQL injections, cross-site scripting, and threat modeling
Strong knowledge of back-end frameworks (specifically with web applications)
Experience preforming source code reviews written in various languages (C, C++, Python, Java)
Experience with CentOS and SELinux
API Security testing experience
Knowledge of the Scrum development process and Continuous Integration practices and tools (e.g. Bamboo/Jenkins, GIT, JIRA)
Experience in collaboration with 3rd party development resources and software tools/processes
Experience with microservices
Avionics or In Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) experience is a plus
