Job Summary

The postbaccalaureate internship for recent college graduates is a great opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research and development within the Vaccine R&D Division at Emergent. You will work alongside seasoned scientists who strive to discover novel treatments for viral and bacterial infections. You will gain experience using multiple data searching, data accessioning and data analysis platforms as well as document writing, computer system validation and project management. The intern will report for 8 hours per day until 31 December 2020. At completion, the intern provides a PowerPoint presentation and a written summary report.

Essential Functions

- Assist in developing networking tools to foster communication and innovative and breakthrough thinking throughout the Vaccine Business Unit.

- Assist in various organizational tasks such as, but not limited to, laboratory reorganization and relocation activities.

- Assist in drafting, revising and maintaining documentation for computer system management.

- Follow good documentation practices.

- Assist in building or populating sample accessioning databases.

- Maintain progress during the internship toward the specific goals outlined for the intern.

Adhere to Company safety guidelines and complete all required training.

Minimum Education, Experience and Skills

- Candidate must have obtained a bachelor's degree in life sciences less than one year prior to the date they begin the internship.

- Should have taken classes in Biology, Chemistry and/or Engineering to be able to understand the science and keywords and carry out compound calculations.

- Laboratory experience is a plus but is not required.

- Must have strong communication, organization, and record keeping skills.

- Understanding of drug development procedures and infectious diseases is a plus.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
