Job Description:

The Vendor Manager is responsible in the support of integration opportunities for vendors within the corporate portfolio as well as management of a select set of vendors with little to no direct supervision. The Vendor Manager promotes a positive image and effectively develops and facilitates relationships with both internal and external stakeholders that will leverage the success of the organization to effectively manage its portfolio of vendors. The Vendor Manager actively participates on and helps to lead cross functional vendor teams, serves as our vendor liaison, and provides subject matter expertise on all assigned vendor matters. Proactive, strong interpersonal effectiveness and accountability are key competencies to being successful as a Vendor Manager. The scope of vendor management includes management of service level agreements, monitoring performance guarantees, and execution of statements of work. Analyzes, reports on and makes recommendations to improve vendor performance. Manages issues logs and ensures tasks are appropriately assigned and completed. Performs site visits and participates in vendor audits as needed. Provides assistance with budget oversight and management for assigned vendors. Responsible for other accountabilities as related to managing external vendors in coordination with vendor business owners. Uses initiative to identify and implement process improvements to increase overall effectiveness of the vendor management function. Performs other duties as requested to support the Corporate Sourcing department.

Knowledge: 


  • Knowledge of Medicare, PPACA, FEP, CHIP and other regulatory requirements that impact vendor contracting.

  • Knowledge of Capital’s and its subsidiaries’ products, organization and operations.

  • Knowledge of vendor management practices

Skills:


  • Professional level verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to apply sound business judgment in making decisions that affect the Plan or its employees.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to prepare and use financial and other reports and interpret results.

  • PC literacy and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.

  • Able to influence others to reach common goals.

  • Ability to discretely manage highly sensitive issues.

  • Adaptability to change in job requirements and priorities and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.  Ability to demonstrate initiative and act independently in resolving issues.

Experience: 

  • 3-7 years experience in a Vendor Management role preferred

Education, Certification, and Licenses:  A Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or a health related field is required.  Four additional years of progressive vendor management experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
