Idaho National Laboratory s (INL) Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking, professionals interested in exploring a technical career as a Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE).

The QAE provides expertise to the Nuclear Material Acquisition program and support seismic safety of INL nuclear operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Providing Quality Assurance (QA) Engineering services to the Material and Fuels Complex (MFC). Develop and implement needed QA program requirements applicable to MFC Programs and Facility work. Review and approve technical work documents for repair and maintenance of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. Ensure that work performed at MFC implement BEA QA program requirements and meets high standards for effectiveness, compliance, and efficiency. Provide QA program support to MFC Programs Engineers in new structure, system and component (SSC) design, and development. Provide guidance to verify applicable code of construction and consensus standards are implemented during design, fabrication, and SSCs maintenance. Support multiple tasks and/or projects of increasing scope and risk with full competency. Conduct assessment internally and externally to identify weakness and potential improvements in the conduct of technical work supporting BEA/MFC Programs. Ensure Quality Assurance program weakness and areas for process improvement are properly identified and resolved using the BEA Issues Management tracking process. Lead QA function in the Quality Level Determination process for MFC including the management of the associated databases, and ensuring appropriate quality requirements are identified and included in quality level procurement's, Lead, mentor and train inspection personnel to specific aspects of special project activities as well as maintenance of basic skills.

TO MFC MANAGEMENT FOR:

* Compliance with Laboratory policies, standards, and procedures (e.g., ES&H, quality, operations, maintenance, and safeguards and security performance and compliance).

* Collaboration of all QA functions across departments and assisting in all QA matters of business.

* Assuring implementation of the MFC QA Program Plan and the MFC Quality Control Program.

* Finding opportunities for improvement.

* Provide guidance for quarterly performance review.

* Identify equipment and facility needs.

* Stop work if an ES&H, quality, or safeguards/security concern exists.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

* Level 1: Bachelors Degree in science or related technical field with 2 years relevant experience, or MS and 1 year of relevant experience in nuclear program quality work.

* Level 2: Bachelors Degree in science or related technical field with 5 years relevant experience, or MS and 3 years related experience in nuclear program quality work.

Eligible to acquire and maintain a DOE L security clearance (site specific), the INL Quality Engineer qualification, and qualification as an INL Quality Assurance Lead Auditor are essential.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to acquire a complete understanding and knowledge of quality management concepts and practices, be thoroughly familiar with quality assurance codes, standards, and regulations as they apply to the MFC facility operations.

* Must have a working knowledge of technical and practical side to quality engineering.

* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining:

* BEA Quality Engineer qualification (QLQAENG I).

* INL Radiation Worker II qualification.
